February 11, 2014
Dear Classmates:
Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 5, 2014, for the Reunion of Classes to be held at Marvell High School where we all grew up! Once again, the classes from 1933 through 1977, and beyond, are invited. The hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Please bring your lawn chairs. We will not be able to provide a sufficient number of chairs for everyone.)
It is very important that you check in at the registration booth when you arrive. If you would like to come early and help with the set up, that will be great please. We will start on Friday.
Each class is encouraged to plan its own activities for the rest of the weekend. Send us an email or a letter if you have some ideas for your class and we will put you in touch with your classmates via email.
Other than the 9:30 to 5:00 reunion hours, the only other organized gathering will be the Saturday night dance to be held in the ballroom at Phillips County Community College. The dance at the college, rather than the cafeteria, is the best option available to us. Without going into a great deal of detail, we have to rent tables and chairs for the cafeteria, it is too small, the restroom facilities are inadequate, and the committee has to clean the cafeteria on Friday night and Sunday afternoon.
As in the past, there is no registration fee. However, we do ask for a donation of $25.00 per person (maximum of $50.00 for you and your immediate family) to defray the cost of the reunion and to provide a fund to help maintain the old MHS building. Of course, any donation is welcome. Food will be provided for lunch and the evening’s social. In the past, we provided water and drinks during the day. Rather than increase the donation request amount, we decided to ask the UMY to sell water and drinks during the day. You will need to bring your own beverages to the dance.
The majority of the money made from the reunion is given to the Marvell Civic Club for the exclusive purpose of maintaining the old MHS building.
Please visit the Marvell Reunion of Classes website for more & updated information. We will not send out another letter because of the cost. Send us any student email addresses you have.
The reunion is your reunion. One way to make it the best it can be is for each of you to get involved to some degree. We ask you to contact ten of your friends to invite them.
Since the 2012 Reunion of Classes, we have lost over 24 MHS students; in the last ten years, we have lost over 270. We hope you will use this reunion to reconnect with friends.
We have been putting together these reunions for several years. Because we are all growing older, we do not know how many more of these large reunions we have left in us. So, if you want to see some old friends, come on down for this one.

On Ole Marvell’s northern borders,
Reared against the sky.
Proudly stands our Alma Mater,
As the years go by.
Forward, ever, be our watchword,
Conquer and prevail.
Hail to thee, our Alma Mater,
Marvell High, all hail!
Cherished by our sons and daughters,
Memories sweet shall throng.
‘Round our hearts our Alma Mater,
As we sing our sons.
Forward, ever, be our watchword,
Conquer and prevail.
Hail to thee, our Alma Mater,
Marvell High, all hail!
The registration fee of $25.00 per person ($50.00 maximum per immediate family) entitles you and your immediate family to enjoy the day’s activities including lunch. For example, if you bring your spouse and two children, the maximum you pay is $50.00. Although food expenses have increased over the years, we decided not to increase the donation request amount; rather, we decided to not provide drinks and water during the day. The UMY will sell drinks and water during the day at a reasonable price.
Hors D’oeurves and Dance
The Saturday evening meal and dance will be held at the Phillips County Community College Ballroom.  The meal will begin at 6:00 p.m. and the dance, with a live band, will follow shortly thereafter.  We will provide ice, cups, and a little bit of water for the meal and dance. We will not provide set-ups.
Beth Berry Stutzman, class of 1972, will again make reunion shirts for those who wish to order them. They will be in the same style as 2012, with Marvell Mustangs and horse on the front, the student’s last name on the back, the first name on one sleeve, and the graduation year on the other. These are embroidered to some degree. The cost is: S-XL = $25.00 including shipping it to you; 2X-5X - $25.00. You can contact her at 20433 Barnard Avenue, Walnut, California, 91789, 909-595-3542,
